"You can learn something from every teacher."

Yes; and in tango, you will have to unlearn most if not all of what you learn from "every" teacher. That is because not one in a hundred people who "teach" tango in the US is qualified to do it. But, this is a free country and everyone can set up shop and "teach" tango lessons. The smart customer is the one who can identify someone who not only is qualified for, but also has a talent for teaching this dance.

We have a very strong program for beginners to learn the Argentine tango dance-, among the strongest in the country. Beginners in our program learn to dance tango well EARLY, rather then waste their time and money for hours pushing the partner like a shopping cart, supposedly to learn "the tango walk", which is grossly misunderstood by most dancers and "teachers" in the US. Our methods emphasize understanding the dance, rather than learning and memorizing steps and mindlessly duplicating them. Beginners learn that the dance can be approached intelligently, using an unambiguous language, a big picture, a blueprint, and then details. At the meaningful intersection of the details with the big picture, a dancer understands the dance beyond, and indeed free of the need for, memorizing. Then it is easy!
